Mathematical statistics is a subject that contains both advanced mathematics in the form of probability theory, and statistics which gives the opportunity to interpret scientific investigations, experiment and data. The Students should describe and analyze data by the help of mathematics suitable for various kind of random phenomena. These can be complicated, as e.g. the probability of surviving after a cancer operation and the variation of extreme wave height across the oceans, or simpler, as for e.g. results when rolling a dice.
